WK Residence
An L-shaped architectural design facing North in the hot Dead Sea region, relying on thoughtful orientation, green layers, and a swimming pool to cool the air and provide a shaded living environment year-round.
Sustainable Climatic Design: Architecture Inspired by the Dead Sea for Thermal Comfort
The main concept of the project is based on creating an internal environment to provide better and enhanced living conditions across different seasons in one of the hottest areas in Jordan, the Dead Sea. The project features an L-shape opening towards the North with large facade openings, while narrow openings and a sheltering system occupy other directions to reduce solar heat gain. The resulting space presents a sheltered outdoor zone prepared for swimming and family sittings, while directing North-West winds—cooled by the green layer and the swimming pool—into the exterior and interior spaces. Additionally, the western part of the project is elevated four meters above ground to create a sheltered, cool zone designed for children and parents' activities.
